Fr. Steve Dumais, SDB, is currently the paster of Mary Help of Christians Parish in Tampa, FL.
He was born in Lawrence, MA in 1948. Following high school at a Salesian Junior Seminary in
Ipswich, MA in 1966, he was accepted as a novice of the Salesian Society at Newton, NJ,
where he made his first profession of vows on August 15, 1967.
He received his B.A. degree from Don Bosco College in Newton, NJ in 1971.
Following college he spent three years of Practical Training as a teacher and assistant in Salesian
schools in Florida and Indiana. He began his final studies of Theology at the Pontifical College Josephinum
in Worthington, OH in September of 1974. He was ordained as a Salesian priest on May 19, 1978 at Christ the King
Church in Columbus, OH.
Fr. Steve has done priestly ministry in a number of states and places. From Louisiana to Florida to New Jersey to New York,
Father has ministered in parish settings, a resident school, a day high school, a formation residence,
a shrine and retreat center, and in Province administration. His responsibilities have been equally varied:
Assistant Pastor, Director, Formation Administrator, High School Principal, Coordinator of Youth Ministry, Vice Provincial,
Province Delegate for Social Communications, and Pastor.
